    Costumer Critiques

I purchased this to see how i got on with filming mountain biking with the notion of acquiring a more high priced model if i got along with it. Nicely i have to say i am v impressed. The footage is superb, sound is ok but from what i have noticed with my good friends ones (Which are far alot more high priced) is particularly simular. you can put up to 32gb micro sd card in though i have discovered an 8gb very good adequate to cover me for 2 hours trailing so far. Please note you can change the quality at which the camera records so dont get dismayed when initially trying if you have not altered it to the higher recording good quality. I kinda agree with the final review in the sense it would be nice to be able to check no matter if it is recording without having taking it off but i know there are models out there that make this easier but the point is they aint this price! Plus, i just wait until i get to the most important points i want to capture, cease, make sur e it is recording and set off with no probs to date!

All in all, i am amazed at the quality for the price and advocate to any one wishing to capture these crazy moments with no forking loads of capital on a a lot more high-priced model. It is defo 1 to acquire for the children if they like there outdoors sports and you wish to give them a v cool present at a beneficial cost for you.

Minor weak points = No batteries or memory card supplied but hey, at that cost! Helmet strap could be slightly longer so desires some strength on certain helmets, might need to help the youngsters!

In common this camera is very good sufficient, taking into consideration the terrific price tag. But, I'm not sure if that justifies the frustration involved in employing it!

It comes with a pathetically modest instruction sheet that tells you next to absolutely nothing. You are left to figure out the cryptic display icons your self. I still do not know what the boxes round the outside mean (apparently not battery life). Genuinely, the only thing you require from the display is no matter if the camera icon is flashing or not (which indicates recording or not). There is a tiny pointless white LED below the camera, that seems to flash whenever it gets bored.

The headband is fine. It functions on just a bare head with no helmet. The camera is on a "click-mount" that signifies you can rotate it 360 degrees perpendicular to the orientation of the head band, in 15 degree increments. It can in some cases be hard to know if the camera is searching at the similar factor you are. Also, you can't see the display when it is on your head, so you can't be precisely sure if it is recording. It does make a beeping noise when you start out recording. However, the sounds for "begin recording", "cease recording" and "off" are virtually indistinguishable - especially with other noises going on. It is a rather chunky device, and you appear like a Borg (especially with the light).

There are two buttons one for "on", "start out recording" and "stop recording", the other button for "delete last recording". The delete function is utterly useless. In fact, it is a hazard, given that you only have to press it for a second and it deletes the whole last file (which may have been hours lengthy), without any second likelihood or capability to undo. I have lost quite a few great videos that way (especially touching the camera when it is on the side of my head).

Much more annoyingly, the camera appears to turn off randomly - with no input given - even when it has a lot of battery left. I wore it in the kitchen whilst generating dinner just to check, and it turned off immediately after two or 3 minutes, several occasions (and then kept going for an hour on the fourth recording...). Also, if you take the batteries out, or they fail prior to you press the button to quit the recording, you shed it. It saves any recording that was completed. If you remove power prior to the recording is completed you still have the file, but it claims to be zero size and unreadable (I tried anything). Basic enough to keep away from, you may well feel? Even so, the initial time it happened was immediately after an hour session, and the record icon was flashing, but the rest of the display had died, and pressing any of the buttons did absolutely nothing (nor did plugging it in to the computer system). The only way I could turn it off was to remove the batteries (and thus shed the recording).

Now, for the plus side. Batteries final a lengthy time (hours), if you get wonderful ones. The microphone works superior than expected (farther than 12ft...additional like 40ft). When it does record, the high quality is acceptable at 640x480 at 88kbps (apparently 1.3MP CMOS). 15 minutes recording is about 250MB. The good quality is superior than expected, and fairly adequate for most makes use of. It does struggle with low light conditions, which appear a lot darker on the recording than in genuine life (eg. early mornings or very cloudy days appear a great deal more like night time in a James Bond movie). It appears pretty resilient to drops and bangs, cold, wet and wind (I wear it to row). It works automatically when you plug it in to Windows XP with a standard USB cable (supplied).

All in all, fairly fantastic for the cost - and beneficial to have. When it functions it is excellent - but you will almost certainly shed alot more than one particular gem of a recording to poor user interface and temperamental setup. I am getting sick of thinking I had a great piece of footage, only to uncover it has not recorded/turned off by itself/was too dark/pointing slightly the incorrect way/ran out of batteries/got accidentally deleted in the field/became a corrupted file. But nonetheless greater than nothing if you don't want to spend a fortune.
